Just recently I saw a beautiful movie called
Océans. It’s an ecological documentary, filmed throughout the globe, and it shows what life is like underwater. It felt as if I was taken on a two hour journey to another world, where I could see this abundance of beauty; A world so untarnished and natural. Although the point of Jacques Perrin’s and Jacques Cluzaud’s documentary film was to show the turmoil that is taking place in our oceans, what captured my attention was the beauty that our seas and oceans hold.
The colours beneath
I feel more and more drawn towards nature. I’m more considerate towards the environment, I’m more aware of current issues and I feel a need to educate myself and have a deep respect for our surroundings, because all that we find around us is a creation, just like we are. I wanted to take my thoughts one step further and start paying more attention on how I can look stylish and good, yet give nature its duly respect.
The truely natural colours
When you’re creating a look for yourself and shopping for new clothes, it’s always important to know what kind of fabrics you’re dealing with. Natural fabrics as opposed to synthetic ones are without a doubt the best way for creating a beautiful, flowing silhouette and a lasting look. All the things needed for looking stylish.
After seeing this underwater, deep sea world, I started to feel more inspired by the colour and softness of the creatures living in our oceans. Looking natural could be interpreted as opting for natural, earthy tones, but actually when you think about it, it could mean the opposite, ie. choosing the wildest colours you can find. Colour, in it’s most vibrant form, is around us. You just have to know where to look.
Underwater arrey of tones
To get the most natural look, you just need to keep your eyes open for some natural and organic inspiration that the nature and our surroundings offer us. Almost all colours and textures can be found from one part of the nature or another. And looking truly stylish comes from taking inspiration from the beauty around us and remembering that with taking we must also give back: By showing nature and the environment the respect it deserves.

Be true to yourself, to others and to the nature. There’s no better way for achieving feel-good fashion than by creating beauty from the ingredients provided for us by nature. Take advantage of this beauty, while it still exists.

I love films. Having said that, I’m pretty selective of what I watch. I only see the movies that I deem worthy enough of my time, so the films that end up watching usually include a particular theme or a story that I find interesting.
West Side Story
Fashion on the big screen is a great motivator for me. I tend to have my eye on the style of characters in pretty much every film I see whether it’s a period drama or a modern thriller. Style and costumes make a big part of any movie, and that’s why the countdown for my favorite movies usually includes an element of great fashion. The Times Online has beat me to it by coming up with a list of their 25 most memorable movies, but from a fashion angle. I must admit, the list does look pretty accurate. Let’s see what you think.
1. West Side Story, 1961
2. Belle de Jour, 1967
The Talented Mr. Ripley
And the list continues… I have few of my own favorites that The Times Online failed to mention. I would definitely list
Breakfast at Tiffany’s as part of my own list of most fashionable films.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
And out of more recent films, I would probably mention Clint Eastwood’s Changeling. I love the glamour of the 30′s when women still looked so feminine and stylish.

Do you agree with The Times Online? What would you list as the most fashionable films to you?
