Sandra Backlund: Collision of Past and Future

by Emma Dibaja on August 10, 2010

Sandra Backlund, a Swedish knitwear maker, who has been designing interesting pieces since the start of her label in 2004, is definitely on my list of ‘designers to watch’. If not for any other reason, at least for the fact that this designer knows how to combine two things that I find really cool: Knits and eccentric design.

The first thing I saw of Sandra Backlund’s designs, was a piece from her S/S 2010 collection. This particular design was so fascinating, that I had to see more from this designer. And I tell you, I definitely got more.

Not only does she design cool and incredibly detailed knitwear, but they are actually really beautiful and a real treat for the eyes.  And I think that ultimately her craftsmanship is the kind that you either love, hate or just can’t figure out, but in any case, she’s a name to remember.

I’ve selected a few pieces from the S/S 2010 collection and the F/W 2010-11 collection. Have a look and tell us your thoughts. Do you love it, hate it or just find it weird?
