October 2010

I’ve thought about this long and hard. Where is the difference between fashion and style? I think I’ve reached an understanding about it with careful observation of people around me, how they look and what they find important.

Do you ever think that people just take fashion a tad bit too seriously? I do. Often. We could say that fashion has been a part of people’s lives for centuries, but has it ever signified as much as it does today? With a growing number of fashion-conscious people everywhere around us and with the importance that people place on fashion, it’s easy to get lost in the labyrinth that is the crazy world of fashion.

There it was, a normal day just like any other, I was walking outside, running errands. I was surrounded by a wave of 21st century, fashion-hungry Barcelonians, who all looked like they had been moulded by the same machine. A sad, but very real street-view pretty much everywhere. But then, out of nowhere, I see something totally unexpected: The coolest and most unique pair of shoes I’ve seen in a long time.

Medieval leather ankle boots

So when I got back to my computer, I started digging out information about medieval shoes. I wanted to know the story behind these unique shoes that you don’t see walking pass you every day.

As I’ve mentioned on previous occasions, I’m a real fan of Massimo Dutti. Not only because it’s a slightly better and better-quality high-street brand, but also because I find their collections really stylish. Both the men’s and women’s collections always show a certain elegance and sophistication which is not that visible in today’s “disposable fashion”, [...]

It’s Autumn time and the days just seem to be getting colder. But unlike most people I know, I welcome winter and colder weather as that means that I finally start wearing hats. I’ve long been a fan of hats. I think hats really have some old-school sophistication about them that is difficult to transform [...]

Comfortable Fashion: Does It Exist?

If we think about comfortable clothes, what’s the first things that comes to your mind? I would probably say anything loose and practical, and what feels good on the skin. But then when I look at my wardrobe, why does so little correspond to my idea of comfort? All I see are clothes which are, [...]

A few months ago, I was introduced to an Italian brand that makes cool and fun watches. That brand is Fullspot. What attracted me most to the watches, was the unique concept behind them. It’s basically a clock face which you can put on to a strap of pretty much any colour. So, I did [...]

But much more than the actual collection, I was inspired by the [...]

Last year, around this time, I was really enthusiastic about finding a lovely pair of green leather gloves.  I don’t know why, but I was totally mesmerised by these green gloves I saw in a picture one day and from there onwards I couldn’t get my mind off the idea of finding a pair for [...]

I’ve always liked the darker shades when it comes to creating a stylish and lasting look.  I think black, dark grays and blues make an outfit look more mysterious and interesting in a way, and with such a flattering tone, it can do wonders for just about anyone. Giorgio Armani Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection was [...]

It’s October and soon will start the long days of rain that will, if you live in the south of Europe like I do, last until Spring, albeit on and off. Barcelona doesn’t see that much snow, so if something will come down from the sky, it will most probably be in the form of [...]

Originally a look sported by actual monks, and later on by laymen, double monk strap shoes are now seeing a real comeback. And with a style so eternal and classic, why not let women take a crack at it as well? In case you’re digging this look (as much as I am — and not [...]
