Are you not amazed by the incredible popularity of leggings? I for one often ask myself, how could anything so ugly become such a huge trend? And it doesn’t stop there, as now you can even find leggings that are made to look like jeans, but which are in fact just leggings. These go by the name of ‘jeggings’. Are they really worthy of a name of their own?
Leggings, leggings, leggings....
Not only am I shocked by the huge number of women sporting this look, but I’m also amazed by the number of articles, tips and advice on leggings that the Internet and magazines are filled with. I keep seeing articles such as: “How to wear leggings”. I mean, you’ve got to be kidding me. “How to wear leggings”? Does it really need so much philosophising? Isn’t it pretty self-explanatory how to wear something so basic as leggings? Apparently not. And it’s not enough that people are fooled into thinking and believing that leggings actually look stylish and cool, but they are also eager to get the latest low-down on how to “work” the look. You can even find websites that are solely dedicated to leggings/jeggings.
Shiny leggings and Jeggings
One thing I’m having trouble coming to terms with is how awful, hidious and down-right unattractive leggings look on every single person who wears them. How can anybody in their right mind think that leggings would look stylish? Sometimes I feel like I’m living in some sort of parallel universe where sensibility is not based on any kind of reason, but rather on something that’s completely beyond comprehension. And the love of leggings is a perfect example of that. I really don’t understand how these super-tight undergarments are so popular and how they became a trend in the first place. The mind boggles…

Yeah! This a good example of how people of fashion can sometimes produce unstylish designs that gives stomach pain, made to mainly please the market. Thanks Emma!
I imagined how all the women in the streets of my city would look like in leggings !!!??? O boy! No thanks!
They are popular because they look sexy to men. Some women don’t mind looking good to men.
It’s fine for a woman to try and look for men and get attention, however leggings are a far cry from looking good. I know plenty of men who think leggings are hidious! Enough with this trend. Let’s move on. The last time I wore leggings was on first grade, and that’s where I left them!
