This year’s London Fashion Week showcased the F/W 2011 collection of one of my new favourite designers, House of Holland. And what did I find in their winter 2011 collection?
The knitted granny square scarf. Knitted by our grandmothers and worn by several generations thereafter, the granny square scarf seems to be making a come-back. It was great to see the granny square scarf on the runway after all this time. The only negative side is that I don’t have one anymore. Sadly my very own granny square scarf did not live past the era of “I’m too cool to wear my grandmother’s scarf”. So, what did I do with it? I got rid of it. That just goes to prove that you should never throw away old treasures like these, which can one day become super fashionable again.
But in case you’re into knitting, why not knit your very own square scarf? This trend is for Winter 2011, so you’ve got plenty of time.
