I just came across something interesting I wanted to share with you: The Invisible Bike Helmet.
Hövding is a bicycle helmet unlike any other currently on the market. It’s ergonomic, it’s practical, it complies with all the safety requirements, and it’s also subtle and blends in with what else you are wearing.
Hövding is a collar for bicyclists, worn around the neck. The collar contains a folded up airbag that you’ll only see if you happen to have an accident. The airbag is shaped like a hood, surrounding and protecting the bicyclist’s head. The trigger mechanism is controlled by sensors which pick up the abnormal movements of a bicyclist in an accident.
Althought the company has come across some criticism due to the design and the functionality of the zipper, it’s still quite a novel invention. But these helmet’s don’t come cheap. They retail at $600 a piece and only work once. But I suppose it’s a small price to pay for potentially saving your life.
What do you think about it?

This new design reminds me of some science fiction creatures invented in movies. Is the helmet appealing? I would say yes and no! Is it expensive? Yes it is…very expensive! However, I agree…if it helps protect and save lives….it is welcome!
